OREGON, USA — Several school districts around Oregon and Southwest Washington have announced they're letting out classes early and canceling activities Friday due to the predicted winter storm.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Portland and Vancouver area, starting Friday at noon and lasting through late Saturday night, and is warning residents to prepare for significant impacts.
Portland Public Schools (PPS), Oregon's largest school district, said it made the decision to release students three hours early on Friday. District officials plan to meet again Friday at 5 a.m. in case the latest forecast indicated more severe weather and a need for classes to be canceled for the day.

Clackamas County schools
- Canby School District: All students will be released two hours early. There will be no p.m. preschool and no after-school care. All activities are canceled. More information is available here.
- Gladstone School District: All schools are dismissing three hours early. Activities and after-school care are canceled.
- Molalla River School District: All students will be released two hours early. All afternoon activities and athletics canceled.

- Battle Ground Public Schools: All schools will be released two hours early. There will be no evening preschool. After school activities are canceled. More information is available here.
