Portland police identify man left for dead in street

Laronn Allen, 39, died in the street after a shooting on Saturday night in Portland's Beaumont-Wilshire neighborhood. No arrests have been made.

PORTLAND, Ore. — A man died in the street after a shooting on Saturday night in the Beaumont-Wilshire neighborhood, Portland police said. It is being investigated as a homicide.

Police identified the man as Laronn Allen, 39, on Wednesday.

Neighbors on Northeast Milton Street near Alameda reported the shooting around 6:45 p.m. on Saturday. When officers arrived, they discovered Allen dead in the street from a gunshot wound.

Investigators said the suspect left the scene and there has not been an arrest. There is not a vehicle or suspect description at this time.

A neighbor said she saw security camera footage showing a car coming down their street and then stopping.

“Someone opened the trunk and took a person out of the trunk. I couldn’t tell by looking at it, if the person was already unconscious or what,” Andrea Hand said. “They dumped that person on the parking strip. Shot them once, stood there for a few moments, closed the trunk and drove away.”
