PARIS, France — Many athletes with connections to Oregon and southwest Washington are bringing home hardware after competing at the Paris Olympics.

Below is a breakdown of the medals that Olympians with ties to the Pacific Northwest won during the 2024 Summer Games.
Medal count for local athletes
Gold: 7
Vancouver's Jordan Chiles and Oregon State's Jade Carey helped the U.S. women's gymnastics team win gold in the team competition on July 30.
Ryan Crouser of Boring, Oregon. won his third straight gold medal in the men's shot put final on Aug. 3.
Former University of Oregon runner Cole Hocker beat out an Olympic champion and a world champion to earn gold in the men's 1,500-meter final on Aug. 6.
Sabrina Ionescu, a former Duck, and the U.S. women's basketball team defeated France to win a gold medal on August 11. It marked the team's eighth consecutive Olympic gold medal.
Portland Thorns players Sophia Smith and Sam Coffey helped the U.S. women's soccer team take home the gold after beating Brazil on Aug. 10.
Silver: 1
Jessica Hull, who represented Australia at the Olympics, won a silver medal in the women's 1,500-meter final. Hull ran for the University of Oregon.
Bronze: 3
Jade Carey won bronze in the gymnastics women's vault final on Aug. 3.
Portland swimmer Caspar Corbeau, who competed for the Netherlands at the Olympics, earned bronze in the men's 200-meter breaststroke final on July 31.
Former University of Washington alumni Pieter Quinton took home bronze with the U.S. men's eight boat team on Aug. 11.
The bronze medal count for local athletes, at one point, was up to four after Jordan Chiles was awarded bronze in the floor exercise. She initially missed out on a medal and placed fifth before an inquiry submitted by her coach boosted her to third place, winning bronze. However, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) voided the appeal, saying it came four seconds after the 1-minut time limit. On Aug. 12, the CAS said it will not hear an appeal for Chiles to keep her bronze.
