VANCOUVER, Wash. — A Vancouver family of five is looking for a new place to live after a van slammed into their apartment on Saturday night.
It happened at an apartment complex near Northeast 15th Avenue and Northeast 94th Road just after 8 p.m.
"We ran down the hallway because our daughters were in their room and saw that a van had driven through their whole room and pushed their bed across the floor," said Raisha Pride.
Thankfully, their daughter only had minor injuries.
"We did go to the hospital to check her out because her back did hurt, but she is just bruised — but she is alive, and that's what we are very thankful for," explained Pride.
The family is now living at a hotel because the impact of the van damaged the apartment’s sprinkler system. They had lived in that apartment for nearly a decade.
"It flooded my daughter's room, my room and my son's as well... the whole hallway and both bathrooms," Pride told KGW on Wednesday.
The family has started a GoFundMe to help replace their children’s shoes and clothes that were destroyed by water damage. They also hope to get help with application fees for a new apartment because they have had to take off work this week to deal with damage to their apartment and to take their children to school.
But at the end of the day, Pride is relieved that everyone is okay: "I was just scared that I might lose a child; that was the most horrible feeling that I could ever describe."
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office said no charges have been filed against the driver as of now.
