PORTLAND, Ore. — A person is dead after being hit by a freight train Friday afternoon in Portland.
According to Union Pacific, the train had been heading east when it fatally struck the pedestrian. It happened at 2:30 p.m. near the intersection of Northeast 112th Avenue and Northeast Fremont Street. It was not at a rail crossing.
The train's crew was not injured. Portland police are currently investigating.
