Police identify man dead after being shot in Kenton neighborhood; 1 detained

Police said that one man has been detained; no other suspects are sought as of Friday evening.

PORTLAND, Oregon — A man is dead after being shot in the Kenton neighborhood on March 1, the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) said. 

On Thursday, police identified the man as 43-year-old Eric Tonner II.

Officers responded to a shooting at a house on North Terry Street at 7:47 p.m. Friday. When officers arrived, they saw evidence of gunfire inside. They then learned that Tonner had been shot and was being driven to a hospital. 

PBB said Tonner died despite lifesaving efforts. The medical examiner said that Tonner died from a gunshot wound. 

Police said that one man has been detained; no other suspects are sought as of Friday evening.
