PORTLAND, Ore. — In its weekly report on COVID-19, the Oregon Health Authority released an update on the number of cases by ZIP code.
The report shows that during the week of May 11-17, reported cases and deaths were down from the previous week.
At the same time, testing for the virus increased by 16% statewide.
The percentage of positive tests, meanwhile, dropped to the lowest level of the pandemic so far. From May 9-15, a total of 16,787 people were tested in Oregon and 438 (2.6%) tested positive.
The report called the decline in reported cases reassuring, considering the increase in testing and the inclusion of presumptive cases in daily reports. An increase in contact tracing allowed presumptive cases to be added.
The OHA has said that they are releasing ZIP code information to help people better understand the extent of community spread of COVID-19.
