PORTLAND, Ore. — Two people have been arrested in connection with a shooting in Southeast Portland last year that injured two people and killed 26-year-old Cali Bolden, a mother of three.

William A. Watson, 32, and Candice M. Hicks, 34, both from Washington State, were arrested Saturday by Portland police with assistance from U.S. Marshals and the Criminal Investigations Division at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, according to a news release from the Portland Police Bureau.

Watson was charged with one count of second-degree murder and two counts each of attempted murder, second-degree assault with a firearm and felon in possession of a firearm. Hicks was charged with attempted murder and second-degree unlawful use of a weapon. Both are awaiting extradition to Oregon.

The news release did not include any new information about the circumstances of the October 2023 shooting, which remain largely unknown.

Portland police were called to the intersection of Southeast Foster Road and 86th Avenue just after 4 a.m. and found three victims with gunshot wounds. Two were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries and the third, later identified as Bolden, died at the scene. The two injured victims have not been publicly identified.

Bolden's mother, Melissa Greely, told KGW that Bolden had been out at a bar with friends that night, and that she believed her daughter had simply wound up being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Bolden's children were 8 years old, 2 years old and 10 months old at the time of her death, a family member told KGW. Her death also came a year after the children's father died unexpectedly of an asthma attack.
