PORTLAND, Ore. — Three teenagers have been arrested for the murder of a 65-year-old man in North Portland.
Ricky Malone, Sr., 65, was found shot and wounded near the 10200 block of North Mohawk Avenue on Oct. 14. He later died of his injuries.
Three teens, two 15-year-olds and one 14-year-old, were arrested Thursday morning on one count of murder each, Portland police said.
They were booked into the Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Center. Their names have not been released.
People who live in the neighborhood say it's usually pretty quiet. They were shocked by the shooting, and they have been on edge since it happened.
"It just blows my mind," said neighbor Julie Van Der Genugten. "A Sunday night, they have school in the morning. What were they possibly doing out at 6 a.m.? It's really unsettling and scary that these kids living wherever, close by, are capable of these atrocities.
"I can't imagine what their parents are going through."
The teens are expected to appear in court Friday, according to the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office.
