PORTLAND, Ore — What started as a report of an injured person in North Portland early Monday morning has turned into a homicide investigation.
Officers were first dispatched about 6:14 a.m. to the 10200 block of North Mohawk Avenue on a report of an injured person, according to Portland police. About 90 minutes later, police said the person had died. He was identified Tuesday as 65-year-old Ricky Malone, Sr.
A medical examiner determined Malone was shot and killed. His death is now being investigated as a homicide.
