1 arrested after man is fatally shot in Portland's Lloyd District

The suspect, Estabon Ramirez, was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on a warrant for second-degree murder.
Portland police responded to reports of a shooting near Northeast Grand Avenue and Northeast 6th Avenue.

PORTLAND, Ore. — A suspect has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Portland's Lloyd District. 

On Sept. 10, around 5:30 p.m., Portland police responded to reports of a shooting near Northeast Grand and Northeast 6th avenues. When officers arrived, they found a man, 44-year-old as Anthony J. Garland, dead. The medical examiner later determined Garland's cause of death was homicide via gunshot. 

Detectives gathered information that led to a suspect, 31-year-old Estabon Ramirez. An arrest warrant was then granted to the Multnomah County District Attorney’s office.

On Friday, at 9:30 a.m., a Portland police officer recognized Ramirez near Northwest 14th Avenue and Northwest Couch Street. 

The officer requested assistance, and multiple officers arrested Ramirez, who was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on the warrant for second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon, along with four other unrelated arrest warrants.

Garland's family has been notified of the arrest.
