Man dead after shooting in Portland's Lloyd District

Portland police responded to reports of a shooting near Northeast Grand Avenue and Northeast 6th Avenue in September.

PORTLAND, Ore. — One person is dead after a shooting in Portland's Lloyd neighborhood on Sept. 10, according to the Portland Police Bureau (PPB).

At around 5:30 p.m., Portland police responded to reports of a shooting near Northeast Grand Avenue and Northeast 6th Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a man dead.

Police identified the man as 44-year-old as Anthony J. Garland. His family has requested privacy. 

The medical examiner also determined Garland's cause of death was homicide via gunshot. Police are still investigating.

PPB said no arrests have been made, since the suspect or suspects left the area before officers arrived.

The homicide unit responded to the scene to investigate. Traffic was shut down in the area at the time, according to PPB.
