SCAPPOOSE, Ore. — A man is facing murder charges for stabbing and killing another man and a woman at a home in Scappoose on Sunday. Court documents are revealing new details about the investigation.

Larry Holland is accused of fatally stabbing Jeffrey Maddox and Mandy Coddington, as well as stabbing Christopher Crill on March 10, according to a probable cause document.

Police responded to a home on Linden Street around 10 p.m. Crill called 911 and reported he had been stabbed. Officers arrived minutes later and found a man, later identified as Holland, leaving the home and yelling at them to take him to jail.

"As Holland talked, he was slurring his words as if his tongue was numb or heavy," one officer said, according to the probable cause document.

Holland was treated at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland for at least one cut on a hand and an eye injury. While he was at the hospital, an officer heard Holland make several statements, including that he loved a woman but was denied by her and that he had to "teach a woman a hard lesson," the probable cause document says. The officer also heard Holland say he was attacked and that he tried to defend himself.

Officers found Maddox dead with a stab wound inside the home and saw that Coddington had been stabbed, the probable cause document says. Coddington died while being taken to Legacy Emanuel.

An officer spoke to Miranda Jones, who was at the home in her room upstairs. Jones said she heard yelling and honking, then saw Crill, the homeowner, and her boyfriend Maddox, who also lived at the home, talking with Holland and Coddington outside. She said she heard all four of them yelling, and saw Holland stab Maddox and Coddington. Jones said she didn't witness Holland stab Crill.

Crill was treated for stab wounds at Legacy Emanuel.

An officer who interviewed him said he had heard honking outside around 9:30 p.m. Crill told the officer he saw Coddington in a vehicle and Holland in the driveway and told them to stop honking and yelling. He then invited Holland inside to calm down and said Holland "came at him" and stabbed him. Crill said he got away and called 911. He also said he heard Holland yelling that he loved Coddington.

Before Crill called 911, officers had already been responding to a call in the area. Around 9:53 p.m., a person reported hearing a man who was "possibly intoxicated" yelling about how he loved someone, the probable cause document says. That person also said the man was inside a vehicle and had been honking the horn for about an hour. Police believe Holland was the man inside what's believed to be Crill's vehicle, the probable cause document says.

Holland faces multiple charges including murder in the first degree, assault in the first degree and unlawful use of a weapon.
