Double-homicide investigation underway in Scappoose

A suspect was taken into custody. The city of Scappoose said there are no outstanding suspects and no danger to the public.

SCAPPOOSE, Ore. — Police in Scappoose are investigating a double homicide, the city reported on its Facebook page Sunday night.

Officers responded to the area of Southwest Linden Street and Sequoia Street at around 9:58 p.m. Sunday on a report of a "critical incident involving a weapon" and secured it for a double-homicide investigation, the city reported. A suspect was taken into custody.

"There are no outstanding suspects at this time and no danger to the public," the city reported.

Police have not reported any details about the investigation, including the gender, ages or identities of the two people who died, or what led up to their deaths. They have not reported the name or any identifying information about the suspect.

KGW reached out to Scappoose police on Sunday night for more information but has yet to hear back.

The Scappoose Police Department was assisted by the Columbia County Sheriff's Office, the St. Helens Police Department, Columbia 911 Communications District and the Scappoose Fire District.
