PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland Police Bureau (PPB) is seeking the public's help in finding a 2022 homicide suspect.

According to PPB, 23-year-old Jacob A. Fitzgerald is believed to be involved in the fatal shooting of a 53-year-old man, Otis Abner, two years ago.

Shortly after 2 a.m. on Aug. 6, 2022, officers from the Portland Police Bureau's North Precinct responded to a report that someone had been shot in the 1100 block of North Schmeer Road, just south of an Amazon warehouse and near the old Portland Meadows site.

Officers then arrived on scene to find one person, identified as Abner, dead, Portland police said. At the time, police said there no suspects at the scene when police arrived, and no arrests were made.

Portland police added that Fitzgerald is believed to have also been involved in a February 2024 shooting that injured a person who witnessed the 2022 homicide.

Fitzgerald is a white man who is 6 feet, 2 inches tall and 200 pounds, PPB said. Fitzgerald, who is homeless, frequents the North Columbia Boulevard area.

PPB said that Fitzgerald should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who spots him should call 911 immediately.
