PORTLAND, Ore. — A Multnomah County judge sentenced a man to life in prison Friday for the fatal shooting of a woman at the Embassy Suites near Portland International Airport (PDX) in 2023.

In June, Raman Lawrence, 33, was found guilty on three charges — murder in the first degree with a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon with a firearm and felon in possession of a firearm — for the death of 24-year-old Teonjenique Elizabeth Lashay Hudson Howard on March 15, 2023.

At a birthday party for Hudson at the Embassy Suites, an altercation quickly escalated to shots fired by multiple people inside the hotel room, according to Multnomah County District Attorney's Office. Hudson and another, Adrian Granville, both died from their injuries in the room. Two others, including a security guard, were injured and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses identified Lawrence as the one who fired the bullet that killed Hudson, the DA's office said.

On Friday, a judge sentenced Lawrence to life in prison with the possibility for parole after 30 years served; Lawrence will be transferred to the Oregon Department of Corrections.
