PORTLAND, Ore. — A teenage boy is expected to survive after being shot in a North Portland neighborhood early Saturday morning, according to the Portland Police Bureau.
Dispatch received a call about the shooting from the Portsmouth neighborhood at North Newman Avenue and North McCoy Court just before 3:45 a.m., prompting officers to respond.
According to PPB, the victim was a 16-year-old boy who'd been sitting in a car with his 15-year-old girlfriend when someone fired multiple shots into the car. Shots also hit nearby homes and other parked cars.
The 16-year-old's injuries were not life-threatening, police said, and the girl with him declined medical attention after receiving some minor scratches from flying debris.
Portland's Enhanced Community Safety Team (ECST), one of the city's two gun violence teams, responded to investigate.
