PORTLAND, Ore. — A Scappoose man was arrested Friday after firing a gun at a woman, then barricading himself inside a porta potty near the ticket office of the Moda Center, according to Portland police.
The Los Angeles Lakers, in town to play the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night, were in the building at the time and were escorted to a safe area as the Moda Center went into lockdown.
Shortly after noon Friday, officers responded to a call about shots being fired near the Moda Center ticket office shortly after noon. Police said that a man, 30, and a woman got into an altercation inside a porta party. The man, Edward Murdock, fired a gun at her, and the woman, uninjured, ran off.
Murdock barricaded himself inside the porta potty, but officers were able to get him to come out. He was arrested on charges of unlawfully discharging a firearm in city limits, and also had a warrant out of Washington County.
Authorities are investigating the incident. Police reported no injuries.
