1 dead after being shot on TriMet MAX platform in Portland

Portland police responded to reports of a person shot at a TriMet MAX platform on East Burnside Street.

PORTLAND, Ore. — One man is dead after a shooting in Portland's Hazelwood neighborhood at a TriMet MAX platform, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

At around 7:26 p.m. on Thursday, Portland police responded to reports of person shot at a TriMet MAX platform at Northeast 148th Avenue and East Burnside Street. When officers arrived, they found a man dead at the scene.

Portland police said a person has been detained as part of the investigation. 

The identity of the victim will be released once the medical examiner confirms the official cause of death and family has been notified. 

Portland Police Bureau Homicide detectives have responded to the scene and are investigating. During the investigation, East Burnside Street will be closed in both directions between 146th Avenue and 148th Avenue. The TriMet MAX service is currently not traveling through the intersection where the shooting took place, according to Portland police.
