GRESHAM, Ore. — The man who was found guilty of fatally shooting another man at a Gresham shopping center last October has been sentenced to life in prison.
The Multnomah County District Attorney's Office said Devin Rose, 32, has been transferred to the Oregon Department of Corrections for his sentence and will be eligible for parole in 25 years. In September, a jury found Rose guilty in the death of 42-year-old Justin Graver on charges of second-degree murder; a Multnomah County circuit court judge also returned a guilty finding on one count of a felon in possession of a firearm.
On Oct. 7, 2023, officers were called to a shooting near Southeast Powell Boulevard and 182nd Avenue, where Graver was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds, near his car in Highland Fair Center's parking lot. There were also 14 shell casings found on the ground.
According to the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office, video surveillance footage showed Graver, who was standing outside of his car, arguing with another man, Rose. Rose then began shooting at Graver before driving away in a white SUV.
Nearby apartment complex residents later reported that their Ring doorbell captured Rose leaving a garbage bag, which contained a gun, white shirt, hat, red shoes and bottle of bleach on their front porch. Detectives recognized Rose from previous investigations and matched the gun to the shell casings in the parking lot, as well as the red shoes. The white SUV, abandoned near the apartment complex, was found to be rented and traced to a "known associate" of Rose; detectives also found Rose's driver's license and mail addressed to him inside the car.
