PORTLAND, Ore. — There are a lot of people offering help right now. One Portland woman found a different approach to uplift spirits of those who maybe a little down.
Along Fairmount Boulevard in the West Hills there is hope from a mannequin.
Bonnie Berg puts “Veronica” out every day dressed up in a dress, red fedora and feather boa, with a sign around her neck that says, “Do you need anything?"
Neighbors in this area who go on walks can’t help but to stop, smile and take some photos.
Putting the mannequin out along her street was away for Bonnie to reach out to her neighbors and anyone else who passed by. Her kind gesture has gone further than she thought it would.
Neighbors say, in some ways, it gives them something bright to look at.
“It's hopeful about things evolving and changing to a point where society is better before the pandemic, I hope so,” says Christine Gieben, who lives in the area.
It’s that hope the entire world is sharing right now.
