PORTLAND, Ore. — Organizers of TEDxPortland, one of the largest TEDx events in the world and a popular gathering time each year for the community, announced Friday that the event will not happen in 2020 as originally scheduled.
Due to orders banning large social gatherings and the continuing public health restrictions caused by Covid-19, it joins a long roster of events that have either been canceled or re-scheduled.
The event, which was to be held at the Moda Center for the first time, would have taken place on June 6, 2020. The new date is May 29, 2021. All tickets already sold for the 2020 event will be honored for next year's show.
TEDxPortland officials said that any other ticket question should be directed to the Rose Quarter Box Office at rq.boxoffice@rosequarter.com
In an email sent to all ticket-holders on Friday, event organizers said:
"After careful consideration regarding the health and safety of our TEDxPortland community, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our June 6, 2020 event. Over the last few weeks we have looked at all options to allow our event to take place this year, but with the uncertainty regarding the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic in coming months, we needed to make a decision to move forward with safety and caution for our speakers, performers, volunteers, partners and attendees.
That being said, TEDxPortland Year 10: AUDACIOUS, has been rescheduled for May 29, 2021 at the Moda Center. Although we will have to wait a little longer than expected to come together, we wanted to ensure that we give the community time to adjust and look forward to us all connecting and celebrating a decade + of TEDxPortland."
