PORTLAND, Ore. — Sweet Hereafter in Southeast Portland is closing at the end of February.

"We had a wonderful 13-year run, but the last few years have been extremely difficult," Sweet Hereafter said on Instagram. "We lost one of our founders, navigated Covid and weathered many other challenges."

The restaurant and bar opened in 2011 serving creative cocktails and an exclusive vegetarian and vegan menu featuring mac and cheese and a buffalo-style sub with buffalo-marinated soy curls. It soon became a popular spot on the bustling Southeast Belmont Street commercial strip that includes Stumptown Coffee Roasters, Straight From New York Pizza and Taquería Los Puñales.

Sweet Hereafter said on Instagram its last day at 3326 Southeast Belmont will be Feb. 29.

"We’re forever indebted to our amazing staff, both past and present," Sweet Herafter said. "Without them, we would not have been able to last as long as we did. We are so extremely grateful to have been part of this community for so long. Come say bye, if you’re so inclined."
