PORTLAND, Oregon — A quiet Thursday daytime hours with a few showers around and winds to 15 mph. Snow levels will hold near 4,000 feet.
A new storm spins up off the coast Thursday night. It won’t be as strong as the recent bomb cyclone, but it will be a little closer to the coast. NWS has issued a High Wind Watch for Friday daytime along the beaches for potential south wind gusts 50-60 mph. Right now, the strongest wind threat looks to be during the morning hours. Valley winds will become gusty tonight and during the day Friday. I don't see valley gusts getting higher than 35 mph except for possible 40 mph east gusts near the gorge.
Steady rain overnight could drop 1/2" over the valley and an inch of rain along the coast. Friday daytime will see showers. Snow levels will rise tonight into Friday morning as highs as 7,000 feet and then lower back to 4,000' Friday evening.
The weekend brings showers and sunbreaks, which continues into Monday with general winds to 15 mph.
After that, it looks like the region will be treated to dry weather for the days leading up to Thanksgiving.
