PORTLAND, Oregon — A strong low pressure center will approach the Oregon coast this evening, bringing rain and strengthening south winds overnight into Thursday morning.

A High Wind Warning goes into effect late this evening along the coast where south wind gusts could reach 60 mph through Thursday morning.

A Wind Advisory will be in effect early Thursday morning into the afternoon hours for the I-5 corridor including Eugene north to Longview.  South wind gusts may reach 45 mph, including Salem and Portland.

Wind gusts of 45 mph can lead to down tree branches and power outages. The wind threat will quickly end by mid-afternoon as heavier rain breaks into showers.
