PORTLAND, Ore. — Hot temperatures will return to the Portland and Salem metro areas on Tuesday afternoon with the forecast showing a high of 98 degrees in Portland, and 100 degrees for Salem.
KGW is issuing a Weather Impact Alert Day for the afternoon and evening hours of Tuesday due to temperatures rising into the upper 90s with the potential to approach 100 degrees in the valley.
The forecast also calls for scattered showers and thunderstorms Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning, but only about a 20% chance for the valleys. The odds are much higher for storms over and east of the Cascades, and over and west of the Coast Range Tuesday night.
Cooler coastal air will flood into the the valleys Tuesday night, dropping high temperatures back into the mid-80s to about 90 degrees for the rest of the week.
