Weather Impact Alert Day canceled for Sunday; some rain expected this weekend

KGW Chief Meteorologist Matt Zaffino said the valleys will receive about a half-inch of rain from Sunday into Monday.

PORTLAND, Ore. — KGW has canceled a Weather Impact Alert Day for Sunday, Oct. 27. Rain is still expected this weekend, with about a half-inch expected in the valleys, with isolated higher amounts, according to KGW Chief Meteorologist Matt Zaffino.

"The heaviest rain this weekend will fall between roughly 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. Sunday morning," Zaffino said. "After that, we'll see showers on Sunday and Monday."

Zaffino said Friday will be breezy and warm heading into the weekend, and there will be some wind in the Portland area.

"As the east winds pick up, gusts will reach 30-35 mph in east Multnomah County," Zaffino said, "but most of the Portland area will see winds that are lighter, 10-20 mph.
