Steady, widespread rain is forecasted to hit the Portland area this Saturday, prompting some outdoor events to start pivoting their plans. The area is expected to get heavy downpour in the afternoon and into the evening, as well as potential for thunderstorms.

PDX Live, which has hosted an outdoor concert series throughout August at Pioneer Courthouse Square, said Saturday's concert of the band Waxahatchee will now be a matinee show. Gates will now open at 1 p.m., with the concert starting at 1:30 p.m. It was previously slated for 7 p.m.

KGW has issued a Weather Impact Alert Day for Saturday afternoon and evening due to thunderstorms capable of producing hail, heavy rain, lighting and gusty winds. If Portland gets a thunderstorm or strong shower that produces a good downpour, there may be local ponding of water in intersections.
