PORTLAND, Ore. -- How much snow fell where you live?
Tuesday, January 10 was the snowiest calendar day since 2008, according to the National Weather Service. Once the final tally is released, it could be the biggest one-day snow event in 37 years or more.
As of 11 a.m. Wednesday, the National Weather Service said, unofficially, the most snow fell in the West Hills of Portland, with 15.5 inches measured. A few other areas recorded a full foot of snow by Wednesday morning: Vancouver at Northwest/Hazel Dell, North Portland at University of Portland, and Banks.
But the number that matters the most is the official count. The NWS said downtown Portland measured 11.8 inches Wednesday afternoon, making it one of the top 10 biggest storms in Portland since recording began. The official tally hasn't been announced and snow was still falling around Portland Wednesday evening.
If you’re wondering how to measure the snow totals where you live, here’s a helpful guide from the weather service.
