PORTLAND, Ore. — Much of Oregon experienced wind and rain Monday morning, with multiple power outages popping up around the Portland metro area. KGW Meteorologist Rod Hill said the wind is expected to pick up as the day goes on.
A wind advisory is in effect from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday, from Eugene up north through Portland and extending up into Clark County in Southwest Washington. KGW Meteorologist Rod Hill said south wind gusts could reach 40 to 45 mph Monday. "The wind threat will be highest this afternoon and evening," Hill said.
Gladstone School District closed schools Monday due to a power outage and head start/early childhood classes at the Clackamas County Children's Community Center were also canceled. The power outage, which at one point had more than 2,500 customers without power Monday morning was no longer on PGE's power outages map as of about 10 a.m. Monday.
About 700 customers remain without power in Newberg. That outage was caused by a tree coming down on a power line. PGE's power outages map says power should be restored by noon.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
