PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland saw record-breaking rainfall Saturday, the wettest day in six months.

KGW meteorologist Joe Raineri said 1.15 inches of rain had fallen in Portland between midnight and 5:30 p.m. Saturday. The rain is expected to keep coming down through Sunday with possible thunderstorms in the forecast.

Today's rainfall was the most ever recorded in Portland on Sept. 18.

He said Saturday has been the second-wettest day of the year.

The last time the region saw such significant rainfall was on Jan. 12, when nearly 2 inches of rain fell, Raineri said.

The city is on track to have its wettest weekend of 2021 so far.

The clouds will clear Sunday night and will lead to fog on Monday morning. Fall begins on Wednesday.
