Magnitude 2.6 earthquake strikes north of Vancouver

The small earthquake was recorded in Vancouver Lake, about six miles north of Vancouver.

LAKE SHORE, Wash. — The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported a magnitude 2.6 earthquake in Vancouver Lake in southwest Washington on Wednesday afternoon.

The small earthquake happened around 2:01 p.m. It had a recorded depth of about 6.2 miles.

Vancouver Lake is about six miles northwest of Vancouver.

One person, who lives northeast of Vancouver Lake in the Salmon Creek area, notified KGW that they felt the earthquake. On the USGS web page for the quake, three people had reported feeling it, as of 2:30 p.m.

No damage or injuries were reported.
