SEATTLE — A magnitude 5.0 earthquake was recorded off the coast of Canada's Vancouver Island on Thursday night, according to preliminary information from the United States Geological Survey.
The earthquake took place roughly 125 miles west from Tofino, Canada, and measured about 6 miles in depth.
The location of the earthquake is approximately 297 miles from downtown Seattle. The U.S. National Tsunami Warning Center has not yet issued any tsunami alerts or warnings.
