Oregon schools postpone first day of online school because of power outages, fire danger

MARION COUNTY, Ore. — Multiple schools across Oregon have canceled online learning classes Tuesday because of power outages and fire danger.

  • Schools in the Oregon City School District have postponed their first day of online school until Wednesday "due to network and power instability." The daycare is open and staff assigned to food distribution should still report.
  • Schools in the Gervais School District have postponed their first day of online school until Wednesday "due to network and power instability." The daycare is open and staff assigned to food distribution should still report.
  • Schools in the Cascade School District are closed and there is no AM kindergarten or preschool. Online school will not be held Tuesday due to several of the district's staff members being evacuated due to fire danger.
  • Schools in the Colton School District are postponing in the start of online school until Wednesday because of power outages and evacuations in the Colton area.
  • Schools in the Molalla River School District are closed due to "power and network instability" and all middle school and high school virtual classes are canceled for the day. Virtual meetings with elementary school parents and families scheduled for Tuesday will be rescheduled.
  • Schools in the Canby School District are closed and classes in both learning models are canceled "due to internet and power outages."
