Woman found dead after being hit by car in Cully neighborhood identified

Portland police said the crash happened early Sunday morning on Northeast Lombard Street.

Police investigating a fatal crash on NE Lombard Street

PORTLAND, Ore. — A woman on foot was hit by a car in the Cully neighborhood and died on July 14.

Portland police said the crash happened on Northeast Lombard Street near Holman Street around 3:11 a.m. When officers arrived, they found the woman dead at the scene. 

On Tuesday, Portland police identified the woman as 38-year-old Marquita R. Martin. Her family has been notified of her death. 

Investigators said the driver left the scene but called police from nearby. They were not arrested. 

This is the 33rd traffic fatality in Portland according to PPB and the 12th involving a pedestrian.
