Multnomah County is making improvements to a 5-mile stretch of Cornelius Pass Road to reduce crashes. Construction will happen from July through Sept.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Metro area drivers will need to plan ahead for two big closures this month, one lasting 11 days, the other lasting 11 weeks.

The shorter closure impacts the ramp from Highway 30 eastbound to I-405 southbound. The Fremont Bridge will remain open, but drivers will need to detour through Northwest Portland, or over the bridge to I-5 southbound. This is part of ODOT’s I-405 Ramps Project. The closure is scheduled to start July 19 and lasts for 11 days.

The other project will close Cornelius Pass Road from Highway 30 to Northwest Germantown Road. Multnomah County is making improvements to the 5-mile stretch in an effort to reduce crashes. According to the county, this will detour 13,000 trips each weekday onto other roads. There are several detour options, but large trucks will be sent to highways.

Construction is expected to begin in early July and last through late September.
