TriMet: Bus arrivals will be more frequent with Line 48 upgrade

The line upgrade, in which buses will now arrive 15 minutes or earlier, is part of TriMet's Forward Together service improvements.

PORTLAND, Ore. — TriMet announced it is upgrading Line 48 - Cornell beginning Sunday.

The upgrade adds Line 48 to TriMet's "Frequent Service network." With the change, buses will arrive every 15 minutes or less for most of the day, TriMet said in a press release. The line upgrade is part of their Forward Together service improvements.

TriMet stated that they will be moving Line 48's route to Barnes Road in an effort to provide more service. It announced that it'll replace Line 48 service to Cedar Hills by moving Line 62-Murray Blvd. to Cornell Road.

The line in question provides service between Hillsboro Transit Center and Sunset Transit Center in Beaverton.

TriMet also announced that it will be moving part of the Line 62-Murray Blvd route, adding weekend service on Line 70-12th/Northeast 33. It will also be reorganizing bus stops at Sunset Transit Center and updating schedules to keep buses on time. The agency recommended people should visit trimet.org to check how their commute might change.

Line 48 will become TriMet’s 18th Frequent Service bus line.

According to TriMet, weekly ridership via its Frequent Service has returned to 85% of pre-pandemic levels, with weekend ridership back to nearly 95%.
