A look at the expected disruptions to the MAX Blue and Red lines in downtown Portland, Ore. on Saturday, Nov. 16 and Sunday, Nov. 17.

PORTLAND, Ore. — People wanting to use TriMet to get around this weekend in downtown Portland should plan extra time for their trips, as crews making rail improvements Saturday and Sunday will cause service disruptions for the MAX Blue and Red lines.

The crews will close a 100-foot section of the MAX system between the Galleria/Southwest 10th Avenue and Providence Park stations. No MAX trains will be closed completely while crews work, but service will be disrupted on the Blue and Red lines in the area of Southwest 11th Avenue and Morrison Street.

Riders will have to board a shuttle bus at the Galleria/Southwest 10th Avenue and Providence Park MAX stations to get around the construction area. Those shuttle buses will come through about every five minutes.

The construction project may also cause some small impact to regular traffic along Southwest Morrison Street between 10th and 12th avenues. Construction flaggers and signs will help direct drivers around the work site.

TriMet said riders planning to use Trimet in downtown Portland on Saturday or Sunday should plan an extra 15 minutes for their trips.
