Pedestrian dies after being hit by car on Sandy Boulevard

Police shut down NE Sandy Blvd. at 162nd Avenue to investigate a fatal crash.

PORTLAND, Oregon — A 46-year-old Portland man was hit by a car and died on Saturday night in East Portland. Police identified the victim on Tuesday as Jason Todd Clark.

According to police, the crash happened at the intersection of Northeast Sandy Boulevard and 162nd Avenue around 6:30 p.m. The driver of the vehicle involved remained on the scene.

According to records kept by KGW based on traffic fatalities reported by the Portland Police Bureau, this is the fourth pedestrian to die on city roads this year and the eighth overall traffic-related death.

The Major Crash Team is investigating what caused the crash. Witnesses who did not speak with police are asked to contact the Traffic Investigations Unit at crimetips@police.portlandoregon.gov and reference Case #: 23-57794.

Northeast Sandy Boulevard was closed in the area for several hours as investigators processed the scene and collected evidence.
