Driver takes off after hitting, killing man in Northeast Portland crash

Police said the driver took off from the scene at NE 60th and Glisan early Sunday morning after hitting a man who died.

Officers shut down Northeast 60th Avenue at Glisan Street early Sunday morning to investigate a deadly crash.

PORTLAND, Ore. — A man is dead after being hit by a vehicle that fled the scene in the North Tabor neighborhood early Sunday morning. Portland police say he was on foot when he was hit. The victim has not yet been identified. 

Officers and medics responded to the crash on Northeast Glisan Street at 60th Avenue around 12:17 a.m. and found the victim dead at the scene. 

Police said the driver of the vehicle left the area after hitting the victim with their car and has not been caught. There is no vehicle description at this time. 

Investigators ask that anyone with information about the crash or the driver involved to email crimetips@police.portlandoregon.gov and reference case number 23-199311.

This is the 44th traffic fatality of the year reported in the city.
