PORTLAND, Ore. — A landslide closed Northwest Bridge Avenue on the west end of the St. Johns Bridge Wednesday evening, impacting traffic coming from the southeast.
At 6:57 p.m., Portland Fire & Rescue tweeted that crews were responding to a landslide that involved a tree and urged drivers to avoid the area.
Northwest Bridge Avenue is the access road to the west end of the bridge. Drivers cross it to enter the St. Johns neighborhood.
Earlier on Wednesday, wet conditions caused part of Northwest Reeder Road on Sauvie Island to collapse, reducing the street to one lane.
The east side of the road was undermined by water from two culverts under the road that failed, which caused the road to collapse.
Multnomah County Transportation has set up barricades to alert drivers of the one-lane section, which is less than 100 yards long.
