WOODBURN, Ore. — A person was hit on I-5 Saturday afternoon after running away from law enforcement, prompting a closure of northbound lanes in Woodburn that stalled traffic in the area.
Oregon State Police said a person driving recklessly heading south on I-5 crashed into a barrier several times, disabling the vehicle. When law enforcement arrived, the person ran away into the northbound lanes and was struck by another driver.
The person hit was critically injured, troopers said.
Traffic in the area was seen backed up for several miles after the northbound lanes closed.
