Historic highway near Multnomah Falls closes for 'urgent structural repairs'

ODOT said Friday that the west viaduct near Multnomah Falls is closed until further notice.

CORBETT, Ore. — The Historic Columbia River Highway is closed for "urgent structural repairs" as of Friday evening, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT). All lanes are affected.

ODOT said that the west viaduct near Multnomah Falls — mileposts 17.3 through 18.12 — closed Friday evening for structure repairs. The highway is currently closed between East Multnomah Falls and Wahkenna Creek Falls.

The closure will likely continue through Labor Day Weekend, ODOT warned, and drivers should use alternate routes.

The Columbia River Historic Highway between Bridal Veil and Ainsworth — mileposts 14 through 22 — is also prohibiting trailers or long loads "until further notice."
