PORTLAND, Ore. — All lanes of Highway 101 have reopened in both directions following a severe crash, three miles south of Seaside, near the Highway 26 junction.

The closure caused a major traffic backup. The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) reported that southbound traffic on Highway 101 was backed up to Seaside and northbound traffic nearly to Cannon Beach and onto westbound Highway 26.

Around 12:15 p.m., ODOT said all lanes were reopened after the closure was expected to last into the afternoon.

"Because of the traffic backups on 101 and on westbound U.S. 26, please consider rescheduling your trip for later Monday afternoon after traffic has had time to clear," ODOT said.
