PORTLAND, Ore. — The Hawthorne Bridge in Portland will be closed to drivers this weekend for maintenance.
The closure begins at 10 p.m. Friday, March 8, and may last until 5 a.m. Monday, March 11.
The bridge will still be open to bicyclists and pedestrians.
The closure is in place for a concrete pour to a new section of deck on the eastbound ramp to the bridge. Vibrations from traffic can damage concrete while it hardens, a spokesman with Multnomah County said. Work on the eastbound ramp will be finished in the spring.
Drivers are advised to use the Morrison Bridge as a nearby alternate route. TriMet bus lines that normally use the Hawthorne Bridge will detour to the Morrison Bridge.
