ODOT: Parts of Highway 217 will close for 9 months

It will be the first of major closures as part of the Oregon 217 Auxiliary Lanes Project, scheduled to be finished by the end of 2025.

TIGARD, Ore. — The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) announced that several on-ramps and part of Highway 217 will close, beginning March 4, as part of an ongoing renovation project. The process should take nine months, ODOT said.

The closure will begin at 6 a.m. to build a new, wider overpass with bike lanes and wider sidewalks, ODOT said. As a detour, drivers should use Oregon 99 West to Greenburg Road to Hall Boulevard (and vice versa); a temporary bike and pedestrian bridge will be also available.

It will be the first of major closures as part of the Oregon 217 Auxiliary Lanes Project, which will build auxiliary lanes in both directions of the highway between Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway and Oregon 99 West, as well as making the overpass more earthquake resilient. The project is scheduled to be finished by the end of 2025.

From March 9 to March 10, both directions — northbound and southbound — of Highway 217 will close overnight as crews install a temporary bike and pedestrian bridge over Highway 217.

From March 15 to March 18, both directions of Highway 217 will close again as crews demolish the existing Hall Boulevard overpass.
