PORTLAND, Ore — The Glenn Jackson Bridge will close in both directions overnight Wednesday so transportation crews can install a new sign bridge over the freeway.
The Interstate 205 bridge over the Columbia River connects Portland and Vancouver.
The first lane closures will begin as early as 8 p.m. All lanes will then close at 11:59 pm and reopen by 5 a.m. Thursday.
For northbound drivers, the detour will be I-84 westbound to I-5 northbound. Southbound drivers must follow the detour to SR-14 westbound and the Interstate Bridge. For both northbound and southbound drivers, all exit ramps prior to the bridge will remain open.
The sign bridge will eventually hold ODOT RealTime advisory speed signs for northbound travelers and travel time destinations for southbound drivers. Those signs will be turned on later this year.
