PORTLAND, Ore. — A crash early Friday morning in North Portland killed one pedestrian and put another in the hospital with life-threatening injuries, the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) reported.
The pedestrians, a man and woman, were hit by a sedan at North Going Street and Interstate Avenue. Police said they were in the road to recover an item that had fallen out of their Ford F-150 pickup.
Police have identified the woman as 56-year-old Laurie D. Lawyer of Portland.
Lawyer was found dead at the scene. The other was pedestrian was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was still in the hospital as of Saturday afternoon.
PPB said the driver who hit them stayed on scene and cooperated with the investigation. He has not been charged with a crime.
Rainy conditions and low visibility are believed to have played factors in the crash.
