Crash closes eastbound Highway 26 lane after crash

Two drivers were taken to the hospital, but fire officials did not release any information about the extent of their injuries.

BORING, Ore. — A crash involving a tanker truck and a pickup truck closed all eastbound and westbound lanes of Highway 26, just east of Gresham, for several hours on Monday. 

As of 12:55 p.m., one eastbound lane of the highway remained closed, according to Tripcheck.com.

Clackamas Fire shared a video of the scene on Twitter just after 5 a.m. The video shows the tanker truck on its side, flames on the ground and smoke in the air.

Residents in the area were evacuated, but Clackamas Fire canceled the evacuation about an hour later.

Around 7 a.m., Clackamas Fire said in a tweet that crews were still on scene and investigating the crash. Two drivers were taken to the hospital, but fire officials did not release any information about their condition or the extent of their injuries.

Clackamas Fire initially said cleanup was expected to last well into the morning.

Investigators have not said what led up to the crash.
