MANNING, Oregon — A fatal crash closed Highway 26 about 10 miles west of Banks for several hours Friday afternoon. The highway connects the Portland metro area to many North Oregon Coast beaches.
The Oregon Department of Transportation said all lanes of the highway reopened at 3 p.m.
The single-vehicle crash occurred near the Dennis L. Edwards tunnel shortly after noon, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Oregon State Police said the driver, identified as 48-year-old Ken Duong, of Beaverton, was eastbound when for unknown reasons, he drove off the road and crashed into the tunnel.
Duong was the only person in the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
